What made you decide to study in Kyoto?
I first came into contact with Japanese culture through the anime and movies I watched on YouTube when I was a student, and learning and working in Japan became my dream. While searching for something I could do, I thought that I could contribute to Japan by working in the nursing care and welfare industry, which lacks human resources. After learning that the global YMCA organization has a vocational school in Kyoto, I decided to study there as I thought I could learn with peace of mind. I am very happy that I could come to Kyoto, which has a beautiful history.
How is your student life in Kyoto?
The first time I arrived at Kyoto Station, I got lost because it was so big, but I am used to it now. Also, I was so moved when I first saw cherry blossoms for the first time. I felt truly blessed that I had actually made it here. People do various activities as they please along the Kamo River, which is near the school, and it is fun to watch some people playing musical instruments. I was impressed when I went to Kiyomizu-dera Temple by not only the temple, but also that there are many cute things in the souvenir shops. Kyoto is a city where you can have many wonderful experiences.
What is your future goal?
There are not many nursing care facilities in Vietnam, and they look more like hospitals, but by undertaking practical training at Japanese facility, I gained a good impression that it is a place where you can interact with the elderly like they are a real family. I really want to get a job at a nursing care facility in Kyoto and take on the responsibility as a licensed care worker and aim to keep providing better care.
Tell me something you have got from your time in Kyoto?
There are a lot of foods here that I really like. My favorites are shabu-shabu and yakiniku.
